Remarks: VZV (Varicella Zoster virus) belongs to the herpes virus group and causes both Chickenpox (varicella) mainly in children as the manifestation of the primary exposure and shingles (herpes zoster) mainly in adults, as the manifestation of the reactivation of the virus. Some seronegative women may have primary infection during pregnancy and in this case the virus may seriously affect the fetus.
