Remarks: Increased urine protein levels are seen in proteinuria due to nephrotic syndromes including complication of diabetes mellitus (see also Microalbumin test), glomerulonephritis and amyloidosis. High urine protein is found in malignancies (eg myeloma) due to Bence Jones proteins. Transient secondary proteinuria may be seen after fever episode and congestive heart failure.
