Remarks: GGT (Gamma Glutamil Transpeptidase) is a biliary enzyme useful in the diagnosis of obstructive jaundice, intrahepatic cholestasis, and pancreatitis. GGT is more responsive to biliary obstruction than are transaminases (ALT/AST). Although is also useful in diagnosis of chronic alcoholic liver disease, some heavy drinkers do not have increased GGT.
