Remarks: High bilirubin levels are found in liver disease: hepatitis, cholangitis, cirrhosis, neoplasia, alcoholism (normally also with high AST/SGOT and GGT, biliary obstruction (intrahepatic or extrahepatic), Infectious Mononucleosis (EBV infection), Gilbert Disease (familial hyperbilirubinemia). Pernicious anemia, hemolytic anemias, erythroblastosis fetalis, other neonatal jaundice, hematoma and following a blood transfusion, especially if several units are given in a short time.
