Remarks: APCA (Anti Parietal Cells Antibody) is found in about 80% of patients (mainly adults) with Pernicious Anemia or/and Chronic Gastritis. Although APCA does not correlate with Vitamin B12 malabsorbtio it may play some role in the pathogenesis of parietal cell destruction. APCA is also present in some patients with gastric ulcer or gastric cancer. Titers of APCA do not correlate with the gravity of the disease nor with the course of the treatment.
